JEC Group and SPE to launch the first international conference on bicycle technology

JEC Group goes a step further in its mission to address every industry using Composites Materials by focusing a brand new conference on a niche market: Composites in Bicycles.
"The pace of innovation in the bike technology has been impressive over the last 30 years as seen year after year in the JEC Show Paris. Cycling is more and more popular and the market is forecast to grow to $65 billion by 2019 according to Lucintel Research. It is interesting to study the usage change, fitness concern, green traffic and energy saving and how composites materials contribute to this move. This is the first time we dedicate a full event on such a specific market that is bicycles." says Mrs. Frédérique Mutel, JEC Group President and CEO. "We are delighted to partner with the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) for this event as our collaboration will result in a high-level agenda with top-notch speakers from Europe, Asia and Americas" she adds. "Indeed, among the 40 international speakers, we can name experts from Union Cycliste Internationale, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Corima, Cervelo, KTM Technologies, Oxeon AB - TeXtreme, BMC, BCOMP, All Head Composites, Time Sport International, e-Xstream, BikeLabs International, Altair/Rolo Bikes or again Progressiv Engineering".
"The market of non-metal bicycle frames and components is constantly growing. Several innovations in composite applications for this industry are leading the way for high-volume composites in other sectors. The 'full plastic bike' is nearer than we think. The partnership between JEC Group and SPE creates the ideal global platform to zoom in on this niche market, as well as bringing a balance between business and technology aspects." says Mr. Willem De Vos, CEO of SPE.
The 2-day conference will discuss Composites in Bikes design: Safety vs Performance on the first day. Speakers will focus on safety aspects of the frame and complete bicycle, failure analysis, failure prevention and design in relation to strength and performance.
The main theme of the last day of the conference will be the Contribution of high-end racing bikes in mass production bikes, design and trends. The main topics to be approached will be carbon composites process innovations, new materials and more plastics to replace metal and save weight.
The event will be punctuated by round tables and panel discussions with pro riders and press.
Registrations are so much compelling that JEC Group and SPE are already planning the 2nd session of CYCLITECH in 2016 to be located in the USA. |
